A 50th Celebration

2 April 2007

It is 50 years to the day since St Kilda was bequeathed to the National Trust for Scotland. Over the five decades many have contributed to the conservation of St Kilda - as seen in this archive photo taken around 1960. In the photo three volunteers are seen repairing the wall of cleit 17 located along the village street, just west of the Factor’s House. And notice in the background, House 1 before it was re-roofed and restored. See ‘What’s new’ for more on the story
