New and old faces are slowly appearing on the island – there’s Sarah (Seabird and Marine Ranger), Samantha (Archaeologist), Neil (Ranger), members of the Soay Sheep Project (and lots of new lambs!), and Angus and Fachie appearing in the Bay on the Orca bringing a few early-bird visitors to the island.
The perfect BBQ on the beach in Village Bay (thanks Angus!)
So we like to think that summer has begun here on St Kilda… volleyball on the beach, BBQs, cups of tea whilst lounging outside, and the joy of working under a clear blue sky. That was last week. As I write the waves are crashing over the pier, and the wind and rain is lashing at our windows. There’s not a soul to be seen…even the sheep are hiding today.
Unfortunately we have already had to say ‘goodbye’ to one familiar face. Neil (Ranger on St Kilda in 2003 and 2005) has headed off to new challenges on the east coast of Scotland. He’ll be missed by everyone here. Good luck, Neil!

Is that the Ranger leaving with the BBQ?
