Clear sky and optimism

20 April 2015

The sky was clear, island residents were super enthusiastic about seeing the northern lights and it was the weekend. A perfect combination to stay out late in the hope of seeing another spectacular light show.  Unfortunately the aurora is a fickle event and we only saw a very faint glow in the distance.Faint glow of the northern lights at the top of the hill

Of course we were a little disappointed but it was worth a try and there was overwhelming agreement that the stars were incredible!Starry sky

We've been a little obsessed with the lights, even creating a piece of sand art at the weekend but the season will soon be over as near permanent twilight will render the sky too light to view the aurora.  Northern lights at the beach
