The steep cliffs are home to fulmars and kittiwakes. Fulmars produce a very offensive oil in their stomachs which they spit in self-defence at anyone coming too close. Kittiwakes feed on small fish and crustaceans, foraging in flocks and catching their prey on, or just below, the surface.
