St Kilda also has a special mouse! It's the St Kilda fieldmouse and it is different from mice on the mainland or other islands. St Kilda mice are nearly twice as big as mice on the mainland. They have a darker, more reddish coloured coat and a paler belly. Their fur is longer and fluffier which meant that someone described them as "being more like comedy hamsters than mice"!
