St Kilda
is probably the windiest place in Britain. There are
gales for 20% of the year - that's 75 days out of 365!
St Kilda very rarely has snow and its climate is generally
cool and wet. Big squally showers and winds rattle across
the islands at all times of the year. In the winter
this can cause a lot of damage to the buildings on the
islands. When you are out on St Kilda you can see these
squalls coming in from the west and they suddenly hit
the islands for about 15 minutes and then they're gone.
